San Marcos is the homeland of premium Guatemalan coffees. The Tamaca Volcanoes contribute to the rich nutrients the coffee trees desperately need to produce excellent coffee fruit.
La Leona means “The Lion,” the symbol of the evangelist St Mark, representing power. The specific coffee suits better to a female lion due to the flowery, orange, and honey tasting notes.
Surrounded by the mountains of San Marco, the farmers are so proud of the coffee they produce now and what the future will bring.
The La Leona coffee is thoroughly washed and fermented for 38-40 hours, then fully sun-dried on dry beds for 12-20 days, and this is one of the main reasons it has a much deep flavor.
